The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) commenced on a trial basis (trial sites were set up) around the country in 2013 and was fully rolled out nationally in July 2016.
In a nutshell, the role of NDIS is to empower all persons living with a disability with funds (or support) that will give them choice and control to purchase services in accordance with their goals, lifestyles and aspirations.
NDIS was established with the aim of investing in disabled people to help them take control of their lives, and to a great extent make them independent and help them build a better future for themselves.
Through the support it provides, NDIS seeks to empower persons with disability with the choice and control to obtain the assistance they need to see them become active participants in the community and to see them in gainful employment where possible. As an approved NDIS Service Provider, Beacon Support is able to give you an overview of this program.
